Berkeley Initiative for Leadership on Diversity

The Berkeley Initiative for Leadership on Diversity (BILD) was launched in May 2006 as a catalyst to engage the campus community in innovative approaches and partnerships that advance staff diversity and foster an inclusive workplace environment.


CALS Project

The CALS Project stands for California Literacy and Skills Program. It is the program that helps staff build their basic English skills. More than 1100 tutor learner pairs have been matched since our programs inception 14 years ago. We’ve worked with everyone from custodial staff in worksite groups to individual language conversation pairs with post doctoral scientists.

Work and Family: A Guide for University of California, Berkeley Faculty & Staff

This guide is designed to provide UC Berkeley faculty and staff with an overview of existing campus work/family policies, programs, and resources. We hope this guide will serve as a valuable resource to faculty and staff and help them to be more effective in their work and family lives.

Staff Organizations Portal

This website is designed to allow existing or new staff organizations to register and create a web presence on the University of California, Berkeley campus and provide information to staff about the work of Berkeley’s various staff organizations.

  • Berkeley Initiative for Leadership on Diversity (BILD) is seeking proposals that can be launched January 2009 over a one-year period. Find out more about the proposal process and upcoming BILD info sessions here

  • Interactive Theater: Acting for Social Change Auditions - Audition for Theater 166: Interactive Theater Workshop on Thursday, August 28 from 3:00pm-6:00pm in 170 Zellerbach and are open to undergraduates, graduates, staff, and faculty. Audition will include application, vocal work, physical movement, physical contact, scriptwork, and interview. Regardless of the level at which you hope to participate in the company, we ask everyone to be part of the audition process. Read more here.
